Report launching Workshop Doing Business in Vietnam: Evaluation of Women-owned businesses
The percentage of women owning a business is one of the criteria for evaluating gender equality achievement of a country. The National Strategy on Gender Equality for the 2011-2020 period, which was approved by the Prime Minister, has set the goal of "30% of women-owned businesses in 2015 and 35% or more in 2020". However, achieving this goal is a great challenge. Women-owned businesses are recognized as having an increasingly important contribution to the economy and society, but they still face many difficulties in business and social prejudice.
Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), within the framework of the Business Voice Raising Project in monitoring and implementing economic restructuring (under the Australian Program to support Vietnam's economic reform - Aus4Reform) conducted a study to investigate the current state of the business environment for women-owned businesses in Vietnam. This study identifies the business environment issues facing women-owned businesses and provides recommendations to contribute to the growth of the business community of women entrepreneurs.
